Chin Peng: A national hero?

The acceptance of colonization has got me thinking about all other political acts that are more rational that have yet to be internalized. In 2013 the Malaysian government denied a citizen, yes a citizen born in the land of Malaysia his wish to return to his homeland because it would insult the families of nearly 50,000 British colonial and government troops who died during the ‘Malayan Emergency’. Why does this not make sense to me?

The Malayan Emergency was an insurgency to ward off Colonial Britain why is the local fighter the villain in this tale of war and freedom? Yes the British are somewhat allowed to have an opinion as such but why do Malaysians especially in 2013?
