Haldi!!! Or Turmeric…

If you are a brown girl I’m sure you have come across turmeric as many things a spice for your food, a part of your beauty regime and an essential component to every traditional ceremony or ritual. Well, if you don’t know what it is, turmeric is a rhizome (you know like ginger), it stains yellow and normally comes in a powder form.

I recommend it as an amazing skincare supplement unless you have extremely pale skin because you might then be left looking very yellow (not good). But if you have an olive to dark skin this will give you a glow (I’m not kidding). Despite your rich skintone you would still have to be cautious while applying because overuse will lead to a yellow tinge in your skin. I find that turmeric soaks up oil and leaves your skin rather tight, yet supple. Its antibacterial properties is an advantage especially if you have acne or pimply skin, regular use does help with these conditions.

I suggest applying turmeric with some gram flour with the ratio 1:2 (turmeric: gram flour) depending on you skintone. You have a choice in the liquid you want to add, yogurt is a good choice to soothe your skin, milk helps if you trying to get rid of tan and water if you are on the go. Leave it on for about 10 minutes and wash it off. 🙂
